Sarah Boyts-Yoder/ Painting & Collage
Sarah Boyts Yoder is a painter based in Charlottesville, VA, originally from Fort Worth, TX. She holds a BFA in painting from Eastern New Mexico University and an MFA from James Madison University. Her work has been featured in nearly 50 exhibitions across the U.S. and abroad, and is included in numerous private and corporate collections. She has received a professional fellowship from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and has been an artist-in-residence at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, 100 West Corsicana in Texas, and Blue Apple Beach in Cartagena, Colombia.
Working with a vibrant, layered approach to abstraction, Boyts Yoder develops a personal vocabulary of symbols and forms that resist fixed interpretation. Her paintings create open, playful spaces that encourage curiosity and imaginative exploration. Informed by a belief in painting as an optimistic and generative act, her work embraces ambiguity as a way to question certainty, celebrate materiality, and invite connection.
