Sarah Michell-Davison/ Arc Ceramics
Sarah Mitchell-Davison is a ceramic artist and designer based in West Kill, New York, where she runs her studio, Arc Ceramics. Her work merges sculptural form with everyday function, using both wheel-thrown and hand-built techniques across a range of clay bodies—from rich, dark stoneware to refined porcelain. Grounded in a modern, minimal aesthetic, her ceramics explore the interplay of form, movement, and surface texture.
Mitchell-Davison’s creative path began with a foundation in fine art, followed by formal studies at Kunst Akademie Stuttgart and Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Her early career was shaped by roles in interior design and as an art director and designer for men’s and women’s accessories—experience that continues to inform her sensitivity to proportion, material, and utility. She also launched and ran a minimalist women’s handbag line before dedicating herself fully to ceramics.
Inspired by the landscape and quiet rhythms of the Catskills, Mitchell-Davison approaches her practice with intention and restraint, often working in series to refine shape and functionality. Her background in design lends her work a sense of precision, while her commitment to craftsmanship and form keeps the process rooted in artistic exploration.
