Eleanor Friedberger / Sculpture


Eleanor Friedberger is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist born in Chicago, currently living in Ellenville, NY. She has toured the world since 2003 first with her band Fiery Furnaces and then as a solo artist as of 2011. Her music, characterized by The Independent as ‘“dark, exhilarating and life-affirming” is often presented alongside her own visual explorations – like the album art and hand-painted backdrop for her 2018 Album ‘Rebound’. In this showcase, Eleanor’s visual experiments make their way into a series of sculptural objects in collaboration with her partner Michael Berryhill – a collision of color and form.

Originally from El Paso Texas, painter Michael Berryhill currently lives and works in Ellenville, NY. With an MFA from Columbia University and BFA from the University of Texas, Michael has exhibited his work internationally – most recently at Derek Eller Gallery and Kate Werble Gallery in NY and also at Night Gallery in LA. His paintings find the space between figuration and abstraction and reveal seemingly endless layers of dreamlike moments in time. For this showcase, Berryhill collaborates with his partner Eleanor Friedberger on a series of large playful objects that translate his painting process into sculptural form.
