Wall Hanging 'Squall'
Created to emulate the swirling winds and blinding white-out conditions of a snow storm, this hand-woven wall hanging was made entirely with hand-spun, natural, un-dyed yarn. Each strand was individually draped by hand to create the perfect sense of balance and barely restrained chaos. It is hanging on a hand-sanded oak dowel, suspended by a piece of deerskin leather.
Materials: deerskin, leather, oak, yarn, fiber, threads, wood, linen, cotton, wool, mull, weaving, mohair
Dimensions: 48"W x 30"H
KAT HOWARD / Evidence of the hand and the physical marks of the body are always present in the work of Kingston-based fiber artist Kat Howard. Integral to her practice is the exploration of materials and texture of an object and its connection to the body.
