We’re thrilled to welcome Accord-based ceramicist Samara Esposito to Ravenwood for a summer workshop under the event tent. In this hands-on session, Samara will guide participants through the fundamentals of hand built pottery, focusing on organic pinching and coiling techniques—perfect for those new to ceramics or looking to reconnect with the tactile joy of clay.

You’ll create two functional pieces:

— A small pinch pot (ideal for a bowl or mug)

— A larger vessel (perfect for taper candles or single-stem florals)

Your work will be taken back to Samara’s home studio for bisque and glaze firing. She’ll offer a few glaze options to view and select during the workshop. Finished pieces will be ready for pickup at Ravenwood in 2–3 weeks, with shipping available for out-of-towners.

SAMARA ESPOSITO

"As a ceramicist, I find myself immersed the timeless art of shaping earth into functional forms. With skilled hands and a keen eye for detail, I mold raw clay into vessels that embody both art and utility. From the meditative (and sometimes frustrating) rhythm of the wheel to the alchemy of glazing and firing, each piece tells a story of patience, precision, and creativity. Pottery is not just about crafting objects, but about honoring tradition, truly embracing imperfections, and connecting with others through the tactile beauty of handmade ceramics. With a background in agriculture and a love for home cooked food, my pottery is a compliment to the colors and textures of the abundant Hudson Valley region. I focus on a minimalistic design approach which allows the natural beauty of the materials I use to shine through. Creating pieces that are understated, elegant and practical, blending seamlessly with any home. I am a small batch potter working out of my home studio in Accord, NY."
